In Vivo
Intraoperatieve toediening van sivelestat verminderde effectief de inductie en activering van neutrofielen in de longen en verbeterde de oxygenatie na cardiopulmonale bypass in een biggenmodel. Door neutrofiele elastase te remmen, heeft sivelestat een directe werking op de geaccumuleerde en geactiveerde leukocyten, wat efficiënte bescherming biedt tegen de
productie van zuurstofradicalen en cytokines.
