Biologische activiteit

Beschrijving Pepstatin A (Pepstatin) is een potente aspartische protease-remmer en remt ook HIV-replicatie. Pepstatin A is ook een remmer van cathepsines D en cathepsines E. Pepstatin A remt Autophagy door lysosomale Proteases te onderdrukken.

Pepstatin A vertoont een effectieve remming op aspartaatproteinases zoals pepsine, cathepsine D en E. In met HIV geïnfecteerde H9-cellen remt deze verbinding een deel van de intracellulaire verwerking van het HIV gag-eiwit zonder duidelijke toxiciteit voor met HIV geïnfecteerde cellen.

Deze chemische stof onderdrukt ook de differentiatie van osteoclasten door ERK-signalering te blokkeren en de expressie van NFATc1 te remmen.
