Biologische activiteit

Beschrijving	Atorvastatin is een lipideverlagend middel. Het is een competitieve remmer van hydroxymethylglutaryl-co-enzym A (HMG-CoA) reductase, het snelheidsbepalende enzym in de cholesterolbiosynthese via de mevalonaatroute. Atorvastatin activeert autophagy.
In vitro	Atorvastatin, een van de statines, remt de c-Myc-route in chronische myeloïde leukemie (CML) cellen, wat aantoont dat c-Myc een doelwit is van statines.
In Vivo	Deze verbinding activeert de AKT/eNOS-signaleringsroute om de angiogenese van endotheelcellen te vergroten via het opreguleren van miR-211-3p, wat resulteert in versnelde wondregeneratie bij diabetische ratten.
