Biologische activiteit

Beschrijving Oridonin, een diterpenoïde gezuiverd uit Rabdosia rubescens, is een traditioneel middel met antitumor-, antibacteriële en ontstekingsremmende effecten. Deze verbinding remt de kinaseactiviteit van AKT1 en AKT2 met een IC50 van respectievelijk 8,4 μM en 8,9 μM.

In vitro

Oridonin remt effectief de proliferatie van een breed scala aan kankercellen, waaronder die van prostaat- (LNCaP, DU145, PC3), borst- (MCF-7, MDA-MB231), niet-kleincellige longkanker (NSCL) (NCI-H520, NCI-H460, NCI-H1299), acute promyelocytische leukemie (NB4) en glioblastoma multiforme (U118, U138) met ED50's variërend van 1,8 tot 7,5 μg/ml. De antitumoractiviteiten van deze verbinding kunnen te wijten zijn aan de remmende effecten op de NF-kappaB- en MAPKs-signaalroutes.
